Hey Guys!
We had the in-laws, my dad, and Brett’s good friend Pete over for a belated birthday dinner for Pete tonight. What a great night! I love when Brett and I do things like this together to pull off some great nights here at the house! We got to show off some of the home improvements too…
After serving the quiche, I cut some asparagus, and wrapped it in foil with EVOO, smoked salt, and some of the Herbs de Provence that I got in Seattle.
Brett manned the grill and cooked some chicken breasts that he rubbed in Tyler Florence’s Chicken Rub I got from Sprouts, salt, pepper, and minced garlic… It was so good! Having the new gas grill makes his life a LOT easier lol. He added the asparagus right after the chicken and finished them out of the foil to brown the ends.
In the meantime, I put the French bread in the oven at 350 for 10-12 minutes until the bread gets hard on the outside. (I tap mine with a butter knife to check)
The dinner was great:)
Donna brought over a red velvet cake for Pete, and he thankfully took the rest with him so I don’t have to worry about seeing it in the fridge:)
For drinks, I brought out our BBQing ice bucket and filled it with waters, vino, and some soda.
I also found a recipe for a sparkling juice that I used for inspiration on this refreshing drink. Here’s what you’ll need:
Water
100%lemon juice… I used 2 18oz bottles for our large jug we got from the Pena’s for our wedding:)
Agave
1 honeydew cubed
1 bag frozen strawberries
2 sliced limes for garnish
Seltzer
-Fill 1/3 the jug or pitcher with water
-Pour 1/4 worth of lemon juice
-Fill the remaining with seltzer, honeydew, half the strawberries, and half the limes
-Add agave to taste
-Garnish the glasses with lime slices, and use the rest of the frozen strawberries inside the glasses.
The strawberries act as ice cubes and give the drink a light pink color after the first glass:)
It’s non-alcoholic so perfect for kids and on a hot day! I would add mint but my hubbie ripped the mint from the yard out earlier thinking it was a weed lol…
*If you replace the water with white wine you instantly have a great sangria, or pour the drink over the strawberries and some vodka for cocktails.
I love how versatile it is and hope you’ll try it this summer with your own BBQs. I’ll definitely be taking it to Tahoe with us this summer:)
I had a glass outside after everyone left and admired the new lights I strung up today:)
Hope you guys have a great week! Enjoy the pics!
Xoxo,
Mrs. B
